Casting & Mirroring Devices

Before You Start

Want to follow your Body Axis™ sessions on a bigger screen? Seeing your form on a TV makes it easier to match each movement and stay focused. The Body Axis™ app can be mirrored from your phone or tablet to your TV using any of the options below.

  • Connect your phone or tablet and your TV (or streaming device) to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Update your phone, your streaming device, and the Body Axis™ app to the latest version.
  • Plug your phone in if you can, since mirroring uses more battery.
  • Turn on Do Not Disturb so texts and notifications don't pop up on your TV mid-session.

iPhone & iPad: Apple TV or AirPlay TVs

Use Apple's built-in Screen Mirroring with an Apple TV or any AirPlay-compatible smart TV (many Samsung, LG, Sony, Vizio, and Roku models support AirPlay).

  1. Turn on your Apple TV or smart TV and connect it to Wi-Fi.
  2. Connect your iPhone or iPad to the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Open Control Center (swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen).
  4. Tap Screen Mirroring (the icon with two overlapping rectangles).
  5. Choose your TV from the list.
  6. If a code appears on your TV, enter it on your iPhone or iPad.
  7. Open the Body Axis™ app and start your session.

To stop mirroring: open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then tap Stop Mirroring.

iPhone & iPad Screen Mirroring

iPhone & iPad: Chromecast or Google TV

Chromecast doesn't support Apple's Screen Mirroring on its own, so you'll need a screen mirroring app from the App Store (search "Chromecast screen mirror").

  1. Download a Chromecast screen mirroring app from the App Store.
  2. Open the app and allow it to find devices on your local network.
  3. Make sure your iPhone or iPad is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast.
  4. Select your Chromecast from the list, then tap Start Broadcast (or Start Mirroring).
  5. Once connected, open the Body Axis™ app and start your session.

Note: third-party mirroring apps are not made by The Body Institute™, and picture quality or delay can vary between apps.

Android: Chromecast or Google TV

Most Android phones can cast their screen directly to a Chromecast or Google TV.

  1. Make sure your phone and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Download the Google Home app and set up your Chromecast if you haven't already.
  3. In the Google Home app, tap your Chromecast device, then tap Cast my screen.
  4. Tap Start now to confirm.
  5. Open the Body Axis™ app and start your session.

Shortcut: many Android phones also have a Cast or Screen Cast button in Quick Settings (swipe down from the top of your screen). On Samsung phones it's called Smart View.

To stop casting: open Quick Settings or the Google Home app and tap Stop mirroring.

Android Screen Casting

Amazon Fire TV Stick

A Fire TV Stick can receive your screen from both iPhone and Android using a free receiver app.

  1. Set up your Fire TV Stick and connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
  2. On your Fire TV, search for and download the AirScreen app.
  3. Open AirScreen and note your Fire TV's device name (you can rename it in Settings).
  4. Connect your phone or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network.
  5. On iPhone or iPad, open Control Center and tap Screen Mirroring. On Android, open Quick Settings and tap Cast, Screen Cast, or Smart View.
  6. Select your Fire TV from the list.
  7. Open the Body Axis™ app and start your session.

Tips for the Best Experience

  • Mirroring shows exactly what's on your phone, so your session may appear in a vertical (portrait) view with black bars on the sides. Screen sizes vary, so some screens may look slightly different on your TV.
  • Set your mat up facing the TV so you can watch your form without twisting your neck.
  • Sound will play through your TV while you're connected.
  • If the picture lags or cuts out, move your phone closer to your router or switch to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network if you have one.
  • If the screen goes black or won't connect, stop mirroring, close and reopen the Body Axis™ app, then reconnect.
